Job Description

We are seeking a Cable Assembler to join a client in Fremont. This is a temp to hire position. Hours are Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm. The position is 100% onsite.

The Cable Assembler is responsible for building high-reliability electro-mechanical assemblies and electrical cable/wire harnesses. This role requires the ability to interpret technical documentation and perform precise assembly tasks, including cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and creating subassemblies to meet strict quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical cables and wiring harnesses in accordance with customer drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Review assembly instructions, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and parts lists to prepare for production.
  • Gather and organize required materials, components, and tools prior to assembly.
  • Perform precision tasks including cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and terminating wires and connectors.
  • Use proper soldering techniques to ensure secure, reliable electrical connections.
  • Position and secure parts and subassemblies using fixtures and tools.
  • Select appropriate components based on design requirements to ensure compatibility and functionality.
  • Conduct crimping operations to meet quality and reliability standards.
  • Follow established quality control procedures and testing protocols.
  • Troubleshoot and repair assemblies, identifying and correcting issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to resolve technical discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assembly processes and production records.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist with interpreting technical drawings and addressing production challenges.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience in cable/wire harness, electro-mechanical, or electronics assembly.
  • Solid understanding of electrical components, wiring practices, and assembly processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred: IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while performing repetitive tasks.
  • Frequent movement to retrieve materials and access work areas, including reaching overhead or bending.
  • Repetitive hand and arm motions for fine assembly tasks.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally (with assistance).
  • Visual acuity requirements include close vision, color differentiation, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Ability to hear and respond to instructions, alarms, and safety signals.
  • Fine motor skills required to handle small components with precision.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to moderate noise levels and soldering fumes.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection, as required.
  • Safety guidelines and protective equipment are provided and must be used appropriately.
